Joss fought the Storm Wyvern on Day 280.

Level 67. Nine days of intensive Howling Ridge farming, killing Frost Drakes and Ice Wolf Alphas in volume, the Ruyi Staff's scaling multiplier climbing with each level. At 1.67x, his Chain Attack finisher hit for 62,000 damage before modifiers. With Berserker Rage and Blood Price: 130,000.

The Wyvern was still five levels above him. The stat gap existed. But five levels was survivable. The White Tiger had been five levels above him too.

He climbed to the summit at dawn. The Storm Wyvern roosted on the peak, its body coiled around the mountain's crown like a dragon from a painting -- wings folded, scales crackling with ambient electrical charge, the air around it ionized and heavy.

**[Storm Wyvern -- Zone Boss, Level 72]**

**[HP: 4,800,000 / 4,800,000]**

**[Abilities: Storm Domain (passive, 500m electrical field), Lightning Dive (single-target devastation), Thunder Lance (ranged piercing attack), Tempest (AoE, full summit coverage), Static Cage (traps target in electrical prison for 8 seconds)]**

The Storm Domain was active even while the Wyvern slept. Electrical energy crackled across the summit, the air tasting of copper and ozone, the ground humming with conducted charge. Joss's health bar trembled -- not dropping, but warned. The passive damage was 200 per second. With his mythic armor, reduced to 80. Survivable but draining.

He attacked before the Wyvern fully woke.

Great Sage's War Cry. The divine AoE shout erupted from his chest, the sound hitting the Wyvern at point-blank range. 80,000 damage. Fear debuff: -30% all stats for ten seconds.

The Wyvern's eyes snapped open. Red. Furious. It roared back -- not a War Cry but a Thunder Lance, a beam of concentrated lightning that lanced from its jaws directly at Joss's chest.

Dimensional Step. Gone. The Lance hit empty air, melting the stone where Joss had been standing. He appeared behind the Wyvern's left wing, Ruyi Staff in blade form, and carved a line across the wing's surface.

The fight lasted forty-seven minutes.

The Wyvern was the most complex opponent he'd faced since the Stone Monkey General. Its attack patterns were substrate-influenced -- adaptive, creative, using the Storm Domain's electrical field as both weapon and defense. It herded Joss toward the summit's edge with Thunder Lance volleys. It used Tempest to flush him from cover. It trapped him in Static Cage twice -- the first time, he Dimensional Stepped out (the substrate-based movement bypassed the game system's crowd control). The second time, the Wyvern layered Thunder Lance on top of the Cage, and Joss had to shield-form the Ruyi to survive the combined damage.

Berserker Rage activated three times. Each activation burned through thirty seconds of heightened combat, Blood Price stacking as his health dropped, the finisher damage climbing past 150,000 on critical hits.

The kill came during the third Rage window. The Wyvern used Tempest -- the full-summit AoE -- and Joss Dimensional Stepped above it. The between-space deposited him ten meters above the Wyvern's skull. He fell, Ruyi Staff in staff form, the full weight of a level 67 Berserker in mythic armor driving the divine weapon's point into the Wyvern's cranial plate.

The cranial plate cracked. The Wyvern's HP, which had been at 12%, emptied.

The beast crashed. The electrical field died. The summit went silent.

**[Storm Wyvern Defeated -- Zone Boss]**

**[Loot Acquired:]**

- Storm Wyvern Scale Set (5 pieces, Mythic) -- 18,000,000 each

- Tempest Core (Mythic) -- 40,000,000

- Lightning Sovereign Crystal (Mythic) -- 85,000,000

- Skill Book: Chain Lightning (Mythic) -- 60,000,000

- Storm Wing Membrane (Mythic) -- 15,000,000

- Spirit Medicine Fragment x18

Full table. Five-piece mythic set, two Sovereign-grade materials, a mythic skill book, and surplus Spirit Medicine Fragments.

Total drop value: approximately 290 million gold.

Joss sat on the summit. The Wyvern's body dissolved into the game system's standard post-kill animation. The view from the peak was worth the bruises -- the city visible in the distance, the barrier network shimmering in the morning light, the world spread out below a mountain where a boy from the underground had just killed a creature that was supposed to need ten people.

He didn't learn the Chain Lightning skill book. Rin would sell it. Sixty million added to the treasury that was funding the transition economy.

He learned nothing from the Wyvern's drops. Kept nothing for himself. Everything sold, everything reinvested, every gold coin flowing back into the network that was holding the world together.

Except the Spirit Medicine Fragments. Those went to Lenn.

**[Level Up! Berserker Lv. 67 → Lv. 68]**

The summit was quiet. The wind blew. The stars were invisible in daylight but Joss knew they were there, the way he always knew, the way an underground kid always knew, because once you'd seen the stars for the first time, you never stopped looking for them.

He stepped home.
