"The media."
"Three of the four organizations published initial reports by 0715. The fourth is holding for comment from the Association." He paused. "The Association's communications division issued a preliminary response at 0730. Standard framework: the release contains incomplete information, the research program operates under proper institutional authorization, and all evaluation procedures comply with established protocols."
The response time: ninety minutes from publication to official Association statement. Not reactive. Prepared.
"They were expecting this," Sora said.
"Dohyun thinks they've been monitoring the internal affairs process. The disclosure, the calibration report — they knew the documentation was building." He looked at his forearms. The suppressant's morning effectiveness running its standard window. "They had the response ready."
The prepared response. The institutional machinery absorbing the release through channels designed for exactly this. The oversight board inquiry running through a process measured in weeks. Dr. Chae. The research program's current sublevel authority after Im Byeongsoo's suspension.
"Not by you," Sora said.
"The parity milestone falls within the research program's primary data collection scope. The extension was authorized to capture this developmental endpoint." A pause. "I will be present as medical authority for the evaluation. My clinical oversight role is unchanged."
She would be in the room.
"The retained subject," Sora said. "Has there been any change in their status since yesterday's oversight response."
Dr. Park considered for three seconds. The physician's assessment of what the question implied and what answering it would constitute.
"I have no clinical authority over sublevel operations," she said. "Any information I have about that status would be from the oversight committee's formal communications, which are institutional records." She stood and picked up her assessment tablet. "The expedited application authorization remains as issued. Day ninety-one. The oversight committee received no modification request in the forty-eight hours following the authorization."
No modification request. The release, the oversight board inquiry, the media coverage — none of it had generated an internal challenge to the day ninety-one application. The forty-eight hours had passed.

The date passed as a day within the extension's framework, carrying no administrative significance in the absence of any document marking the original ninety-day completion. At 1030, the facility administrator came to the patient room. Not with documentation this time — with the verbal notification that the extension protocols' implementation was complete. The retention story: a partially mutated healer-class subject held in a research facility with a suppressed developing node at risk of clinical failure from a management protocol they didn't authorize. She read the slip.
